Royal Ascot Ladies Day in The Village with Crosswater

By June 28, 2017News, Work outings

Last Thursday I was fortunate enough to attend Royal Ascot Ladies Day with Crosswater Holdings. We had tickets for The Village – Royal Ascot’s first new enclosure in 100 years! The atmosphere from the train journey there, to the walk from the station to the enclosures, was abuzz with excitement and anticipation for a good days racing and socialising. Everyone was fantastically turned out in their posh frocks, fancy headpieces, and tailored suits.

Crosswater kindly prepared a survival kit for us consisting of lots of useful goodies to keep us feeling fresh throughout the day – party feet gel cushions, deodorant, a lolly, hair band, chewing gum, and water to mention a few of the treats!

Upon arriving at The Village we familiarised ourselves with the surroundings; noting the many stages for live music, fantastic track side view, and the food and beverage offerings!

After the first race we decided we’d eased into things and were all going to have a flutter or two on the rest of the races. My bets were as follows, and amazingly I doubled my money which was a fabulous bonus!

Race 2 Mirage Dancer – placed 3rd

Race 3 Coronet – placed 1st

Race 4 Order of St George – placed 2nd

Race 5 Tricorn – placed 3rd

Race 6 Utah – didn’t place, my one duff bet 🙁 note I wanted to bet on Mister Manduro using the official programme blurb but he didn’t race that day!

Between each race we enjoyed people watching – there were some amazing hats on display! I was particularly impressed with the pearl pirate ship headpiece – it was like a true work of sculptural art (I couldn’t resist taking a photo, see below!)

The music that filled The Village ranged from acoustic sets to jazz, soul, swing, brass bands, and DJ’s. It was great to see everyone dancing and singing along, enjoying the vibe.

As the day drew to a close, I headed back to London on the train feeling pleased with my winnings, and thoroughly fulfilled with memories of a marvellous day out networking with my peers and having made new friends. Thank you Crosswater for inviting me!
