2017 was a busy year for Rethink Interiors with many UK projects completing, and our international projects progressing well. We worked with new hotel brands, providing interior design services which stretched our imaginations and broadened our knowledge.
Here is a small snapshot of some of the projects we carried out in 2017, and a brief overview of our concepts for them.
Best Western White House Watford Hotel
We provided the interior design services for the newly refurbished Best Western White House Watford Hotel. Taking inspiration from the location and how Watford has evolved as a transport hub with fast links into London and further afield, the concept brought together historic transport patterns and bold colours to match the lively feel Watford now exudes. Artwork that embraces local elements and traditional transport signage adorns the walls, and a new bespoke reception desk / bar improves the hotel offerings in the lobby lounge.
The Client is extremely happy with the results!
“It was a pleasure to work with Kate and Ailsa at Rethink Interiors, they listened to our needs and came up with a great design that we are proud of, they are also extremely professional and time efficient!
Kate and Ailsa took our brief and came up with a perfect mood board, the style and design is perfect for our hotel in the heart of Watford and has been transformed into a wonderful space.
We look forward to working with Rethink Interiors again in the near future.”

DoubleTree by Hilton Chester Hotel
This hotel has an interesting history behind it – the building itself is an 18th Century restored Manor House and has housed various tenants including the pioneer balloonist Thomas Baldwin. In 1940 British Telecommunications took it over and after years of it being unoccupied, in the 1980’s the building became Hoole Hall Hotel. In 2009, the hotel was rebranded to DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester. Over the past couple of years Rethink Interiors has provided the interior design services for a phased refurbishment plan including the public areas (reception, lobby lounge, bar, restaurant and public washrooms), and a new extension providing an additional 79 guestrooms. The concept for the refurbishment took inspiration from Thomas Baldwin’s escapades and includes bespoke carpets, artwork and fretwork which reflect the views from a hot air balloon sailing high in the sky. The Tudor styling of the local architecture in Chester also plays a part in the refurbishment with patterns appearing in the washrooms and on the extensive glazed walling.
Streatham Wine House
When the owners of West London Wine School contacted us to say they were opening a wine bar in Streatham, we jumped at the chance to work on a project right on our doorstep! Jimmy and Beth had some interesting ideas of how they wanted their venue to look but needed some assistance pulling it all together and implementing it on site. Rethink Interiors was happy to assist and ensured that the friendly, down-to-earth experience of wine tasting and enjoyment was fulfilled. Personal photos of their trips around Europe in ‘Jeff’, the infamous VW campervan, sourcing the best wines, along with artwork they have collected on their travels decorate the walls. A bespoke piece of graffart highlighting the importance of Jeff is displayed on the back wall. The bar façade tiling takes inspiration from Hospice de Beaune in France – one of the Owner’s favourite places to visit.
It was an exciting year for Rethink Interiors in 2017, and we’re looking forward to what 2018 will bring! Watch this space for more news on Rethink Interiors projects!
