Macmillan Coffee Morning + Pumpkin Carving – by Ilona Eon

I was in such a hurry to be at work on Thursday 27th October! Two events were planned. The first, a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support – a charity that provides medical, emotional, practical and financial support. For this, people were invited to join us for a slice of cake and a cup of tea or coffee in exchange for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.

This day began by decorating the Hideaway Workspace for our coffee morning. This was so exciting – we inflated balloons, laid tablecloths, displayed the posters and set up the accessories that were provided in the Macmillan pack. At 11am, we finished the decoration by placing the cakes out ready. All of the team had baked cakes – muffins, red velvet, cheesecake, lemon drizzle, brownies and tiffin.

Gradually, people started to join us – it was the occasion to network and socialise with fellow Hideaway Workspace residents. Around delicious cakes and hot tea, we interacted together. It aw as great atmosphere! Firstly – the elections of the best baker. This title was won by Maria with her red velvet cake! Secondly, we tried to find the number of dots on a cake – very hard! It was 495 and I said 200… so far away! We all had a lovely time, raised over £140 for a good charity and had fun doing it!

To finish our work day, we went pumpkin carving at Drink, Shop and Do! I’m very happy to have shared my first carving experience with the team! A nice moment to exchange thoughts and socialise outside of work (and with a glass of champagne)! Design really is the right sector for these ladies – their pumpkins prove their talent. But I’m also proud of my artwork. J

This day was perfect and confirms my mind – I’m delighted to be part of Rethink Interiors to do my internship!
