On Friday 29th September, we hosted the annual Macmillan Coffee morning, known as the World’s busiest coffee morning! This was the second year we decided to take part having enjoyed it so much last year and with it being for such an important cause!
We decorated the shared office space with balloons and bunting provided by Macmillan. In the hope everyone would be tempted to drop by for a cheeky taste of the cakes and a cuppa!
We really enjoy hosting the event as our work environment is made up of lots of independent offices and hot desking, so it’s a good excuse to all get everyone together. Creating a happy atmosphere perfect for a Friday afternoon – ideal when trying to wind down for the weekend!
We decided to add some healthy competition into the baking (like last year) with our selected judges being the lucky ones who got to taste everything. The cakes varied from carrot cake, brownies, blueberry muffins and lemon drizzle.
Judging began and it was all very serious! Tensions were running high as everyone was hoping they had baked the winning bake! Suddenly the contestants on Bake Off seemed to have a much harder job than it looked! The judges rated both the taste and the appearance and they certainly weren’t holding back on their opinions or their honesty!
The best baker was awarded to one of our designers Maria with her gluten free carrot cake! Ailsa our other designer came joint second with her brownies and let’s just say our other designers need to work on their baking skills!
We manged to raise £250 which beat last year’s total, so we left for the weekend feeling really happy! We were all in agreement that we would take part next time and would recommend everyone to give it a go!
