I was really grateful this year to have been invited by Interface to the European Hotel Design Awards. The event celebrates exceptional hotel design and architecture through some of the industry’s leading interior designers, architects and hotel operators. The event was hosted at the Park Plaza London gathering over 800 attendees and creating a fantastic environment for networking.
The day before the event, I’d yet to decide what to wear to the ‘ball’ so had to do a last minute dash around, whereby I stumbled across a bargain in a local charity shop. The evening had a fantastic theme of The Grand Budapest Hotel, one of my favourite films, because of its colourful sets and costume design. Upon arrival we were greeted by The Grand Budapest housekeepers who insisted on dusting us down whilst the ‘paparazzi’ photographed us, adding a fun and playful element to the evening that really got us engaged.
I felt honoured to have been invited onto the Interface table as they were so welcoming and such great company. The food was delicious and the drinks flowed late into the evening. The EHDA Awards offered a unique opportunity to see so many great designs, and inspired me to get back into work the next day with a renewed creative zest!
Our MD, Kate, was also invited to the Awards by Ideal Standard and had a great time on their table. Massive thanks to both Interface and Ideal Standard for inviting us to join them on what was a fantastic Awards evening.
Roll on next year’s event!
